We can see you!

31 03 2011

We found the Ngamo gang in the Kruger area today (29th March) head to tail in a communal nap. Before we even checked our telemetry signal to see if anyone else was hanging around our researcher spotted a familiar face. We were delighted to see that Kenge had rejoined the group again. It would appear her visits to the pride are becoming more frequent indicating her cubs, as was the case with Athena’s, are now becoming less dependant on her and requiring suckling less often.

We spent the rest of the morning session observing Kenge reaffirming her bond with alpha female Phyre, before heading back for breakfast.

In the afternoon we decided to try check up upon Athena and her cubs. We snuck our vehicle through the long grass to where we suspected she has been denning for sometime and we were right on the money. The three famous little golden cubs quickly popped their heads up to investigate the rumble of the engine before getting stuck into some playtime.
